What makes ALTHOM different

Responsibility beyond capacity.

ALTHOM does not simply supply engineering capacity. We start with the customer's technical problem, develop the appropriate solution and take responsibility through delivery. Wherever the scope allows, what we agree is a defined, verifiable result rather than a number of hours.

  1. UnderstandThe problem is restated in technical terms before anything is quoted.
  2. SolveThe approach is chosen for the problem, not for the tool we happen to own.
  3. VerifyResults are reviewed against the governing standard, by a second engineer where the scope calls for it.
  4. DeliverWe deliver exactly what has been agreed, with full traceability from the initial requirements to the final deliverable.

Engineering

One structure,
three engineering views.

The same rib is analysed, designed and verified. Keeping those three in one place is what lets a change in the loads reach the drawing and the report without anyone retyping it.

    • Structural analysis, static and dynamic
    • Fatigue, damage tolerance and crack propagation
    • Thermal analysis, steady state and transient
    • Flow analysis and fluid to structure interaction
    • Multiphysics, where those effects meet
    • Concept studies and preliminary sizing
    • 3D design and manufacturing drawings
    • Composite and metallic structure
    • Jig and tooling design
    • Prototype and build support
    • Verification against the governing standard
    • Stress reports and margins of safety
    • Review by a second engineer, recorded
    • Test support and correlation
    • Traceability from result back to input

Technical Data

Documentation is part of the product.

A component becomes a drawing, the drawing becomes a structured data set, and the data set becomes the publication an operator actually opens. Our technical writers are engineers, which is why the chain holds together.

Digital Technology

Tools built from real engineering workflows.

  1. 01Project dataWhatever the archive actually holds: Word, legacy XML, scanned parts catalogues, CGM.
  2. 02ValidateRule-based checking against the governing specification, before anything is converted.
  3. 03StructureConversion into data modules, with cross-references resolved rather than dropped.
  4. 04AutomateIndexes, lists and repeated edits handled by a tool instead of by a person.
  5. 05PublishOutput an operator can review, and a data set the next revision can reuse.

Automation starts in our own work. Where an editor is stuck on a repeating task, that task becomes a tool. Tools are handed over with their documentation, and with source code where agreed, so that they keep running in the customer's own environment.

ALTHOM Publisher

Technical publishing.
Re-engineered.

Our own publishing software, released in February 2026 and developed in Germany by technical writers who work to these specifications every day. Built for the gap between an enterprise suite no mid-sized supplier can justify and a converter that fails at the first change bar.

WarningMake sure that the hydraulic system is depressurised before you disconnect the lines.
  1. Install the safety pins in the landing gear.
  2. Disconnect the hydraulic lines. Install blanking caps.
  3. Remove the rod-end bolt. Keep the spherical bearing.
  4. Support the actuator and remove the trunnion bolts.
  5. Remove the actuator. Refer to Fig. 1.

ILS & LSA

The product does not end when engineering does.

Integrated logistics support brings design, maintenance and procurement into one view across the life of a system, and the result feeds straight into the S1000D and S2000M structures the same people are already building.

  • LORALevel of repair analysis. Where a failure is best put right, and what that costs over the fleet.
  • RAMReliability, availability, maintainability. What the system will actually be able to do.
  • LCCLifecycle cost. The bill for the decades after delivery, priced before they start.
  • SUSSustainment planning. Spares, tools, facilities and the people to use them.
  • CMConfiguration management. Which build is in front of you, and which data belongs to it.
  • OBSObsolescence management. The part that stops being made long before the system retires.

Industries

Where proof matters as much as the structure.

  1. Aerospace

Strength, vibration and damage tolerance analysis up to large aircraft structures, with the maintenance and parts data that goes with them.

  2. Defence

Military documentation to S1000D, S2000M data structures, ILS and LSA including configuration and obsolescence management.

  3. Energy

Wind turbine structures, towers and e-modules, optimised in design and structure, as well as wind tunnels, ventilation towers and industrial load-bearing structures.

  4. Marine

Ship components and cranes, and the technical documentation for maritime systems.

  5. Industrial

Mechanical components, thermal and flow analysis, jigs and tooling, operating and maintenance instructions.

  6. Civil

Static analysis of civil and industrial structures, foundation and connection design, approval-ready documentation.

Engineering expertise across Hamburg and Patras

Founded in Hamburg in 2010, ALTHOM began building its engineering capability in Patras in 2012. ALTHOM Engineering E.P.E. was established there in January 2013. Today the two locations work as one integrated European engineering organisation.

Hamburg brings customer proximity and long-standing technical experience. Patras has its own project management, quality assurance and technical responsibility through to delivery. Teams are formed around each assignment and the customer's requirements, drawing on one or both locations as needed.

Shared processes and a quality management system certified for both locations, with a documented scope for each, support one consistent standard of engineering excellence.

People and technology

Technology moves forward.
People make it work.

Software decides how fast a data set can be checked. It does not decide whether the analysis behind it was the right one. ALTHOM is owner-managed and the people who set the technical direction are the people who still review the work.
